Ex-Yu Genealogy ★ Sources for Post-Yugoslav Family History

Ex-Yu Genealogy is a comprehensive, cross-border guide to genealogical research in the countries of the former Yugoslavia: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.

First created in 2012, the site was originally in Serbo-Croatian. As its audience has become increasingly international, more content is now presented in English to better serve researchers worldwide.

Ex-Yu Genealogy is designed for a broad audience — descendants of emigrants, researchers working inside or outside the Balkans, beginners unfamiliar with local archives, and genealogists seeking reliable regional sources.

The aim of Ex-Yu Genealogy is to provide basic research pathways to church and civil records, archives and registries, census and war-related records, historical directories, publications, and other key sources across the post-Yugoslav region.

Therefore, this website will be continuously expanded with more information. Research for this website has been made possible thanks in part to the generous financial support of the American Society for Genealogists (ASG).
